Just Let Them
You don’t have to attend every argument you’re invited to.
There is a particular kind of freedom that shows up when you finally realize you are not the manager of other people’s opinions. Not their tone. Not their mood. Not their worldview. Not their misinterpretation of you. And certainly not their politics.
You don’t have to fix it. You don’t have to defend it. You don’t have to explain yourself into exhaustion. You don’t even have to be right. It is okay to know what you know without making sure they know it too.
You can just… let it go.
Let them misunderstand you. Let them think you’re too much or not enough. Let them roll their eyes. Let them project their fears onto your choices. Let them mispronounce the word or use the wrong one in a sentence. The world will keep spinning.
Most of the time, it isn’t even about you. It’s their history. Their bruises. Their unhealed parts. Their need to be right so they don’t feel small.
And you? You don’t have to step into that ring.
You can choose peace without needing applause for it. You can choose silence without it meaning surrender. You can choose to disengage without it meaning you’re weak. Sometimes the strongest move is not swinging.
Let them believe what they need to believe. Let them tell the story that keeps them comfortable. Let them carry the version of you that fits their narrative.
You keep walking. Not cold. Not bitter. Not superior. Just free.
There is so much energy wasted trying to be understood by people who are committed to misunderstanding you. Reclaim it.
Let them do them. And then go build something beautiful with the time you get back.
